Orange and Opium Box Oil 5 x 8 inches Artist's Statement Dorothy Lorenze is an award winning representational painter following classical atelier methods of oil painting. Her work often explores nostalgic and historic subjects in still life and interior scenes and she finds inspiration in moments of unexpected color, evocative imagery and intricate patterns. Dorothy has had solo exhibitions at Muscoot Farm Mansion House and her work has been shown at Greene Gallery in CT and invitational art exhibits including the International Trompe L’oeil exhibit at John F. Peto Studio Museum, American Women Artists National Exhibition at Steamboat Art Museum and in the permanent collection of Weir Farm National Historic Site. Dorothy became a juried member of New York’s historic Salmagundi Club, an Elected Member of Allied Artists of America, Signature Member of American Women Artists and she holds memberships in Oil Painters of America, Hudson Valley Artists Association, and Newburyport Art Association where her work was judged Best in Show. She has studied at the Art Students League in NY, New York Academy of Art, and has had the privilege of private mentoring with Todd M. Casey of Grand Central Academy.
